Alexander Steele are have an exciting opportunity for a Development Chemist to join a leading UK manufacturer of both branded and private label products. We are seeking a chemist with a proven background in FMCG product delivery who will form part of the NPD team and will support development and commercial activities. As a skilled development chemist, you will be primarily responsible for new product development and cost effectiveness programs The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the homecare sector and possess evidence of product delivery, innovation and effective time management. The ability to develop relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers is crucial as the role will require significant overlap with production, quality and commercial sides of the business Key Responsibilities •Applicants must be a graduate, or above in chemistry, and experienced in the formulation, development and testing of household cleaning products. •Knowledge of surfactant/polymer chemistry and possess the know-how to turn this into new products •Possess good practical and laboratory skills •Support the development of the NPD pipeline, making use of external bodies, suppliers etc. to leverage new technologies for potential business impact, differentiated innovations •Keep abreast of market developments, building insights and identifying opportunities for new formats •Manage own workload effectively ensuring activities are aligned with business timings and project budgets •Support project management activities as required (SDS preparation, back of pack declarations etc) •Present to internal and external stakeholders on project milestones •Provide product briefings/ status updates to suppliers and 3rd parties, when required •Proficient at NPD record keeping Key Requirements •Experience within a similar role in FMCG product development •Minimum of degree level qualification in chemistry On Offer: •£35,000 •23 days AL increasing 25 after 2 years + public holidays •3 & 5 % legal and general pension •Training and development opportunities within chosen profession •Opportunity to work with global brands •In house incentives •38 per week flexible hours •Free products weekly •Opportunity to be recognised through our employee initiatives scheme If you are interested in hearing more about it this position, please apply with your most recent CV for more information about the role.
