Alexander Steele has partnered with a ground-breaking business that is producing a range of environmentally sustainable products. They work with some leading global FMCG businesses and have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Engineering based in Cambridgeshire. Lead authority on product scale up and product delivery for our client’s home, personal care and food products - films and microcapsules. The Role • Strong collaboration with the Head of Product Development to release certified products from development to our product portfolio • Manage a team of engineers, (Chemical and Process) to advance our clients products to scaled production volumes • Sound technical leadership to guide process improvements, identifying areas for enhanced production efficiency • Lead authority on production line design, equipment identification and procurement, management of budget and liaison with senior management on approvals • In collaboration with other teams, ensure product certification and quality measures are designed and met for products • Manage the Engineering team and identify resourcing needs. The Candidate: • MSc/MEng/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering • Significant experience in their field, ideally in FMCG, personal/home care products or food products. • Worked at a large company in scaling small lab to large manufacture • Proven experience of managing a team of 2-6 people. • Experience in various size manufacturing lines, from small, to pilot to large scale. • Understands sustainable, bio-based materials, or materials in general. May have worked on cellulose or other biopolymers. • You should be detail-oriented, able to multi-task and fit the company culture of innovation and creativity.
