Head of Technical

Alexander Steele are delighted to be working with a leading food business that are looking for a Head of Technical to join their team at their site in Essex. Reporting to the Directors of the business, the Head of Technical will be responsible for the day to day control of the Technical department. You will be given the chance to assess and reshape the department alongside the Senior Management team - to push an experienced and passionate team forward. Head of Technical responsibilities: • Completion & management of retail specifications, product launch process, audits and artwork • Communicating with all key stakeholders both internally & externally. • Customer audits & site visits. • Ensuring effective root cause analysis & problem solving whilst informing the business of progress. • Ensuring that all Technical requirements for our customers managed through effective relationships and KPIs. • Responding to customer queries/specifications/SAQs and business format specifications. • Manage the HACCP team and QA functions as well as external testing & internal product inspection. • Responsibility of all customer complaints and non-conformances. • Covering QMS/GMP alongside Technical Compliance Manager • Represent the company on trade body technical committees • Support the Technical Compliance Manager with management of the QMS system The candidate: • Be able effectively communicate with internal & external stakeholders whilst under pressure • An attitude to muck in during busy times • Have a great attention to detail • Exposure to BRC Agents & Brokers standard • HACCP level 3 but level 4 preferred • Lead auditor trained ideally or experienced auditor – Retailer & BRC audits • Understanding of UK & European legislation & food law If you think that you have the experience required for this role please apply along with your up to date CV.
