National Account Manager Alexander Steele are working with a successful Spirits business. They are a leader in their category. They have an exciting pipeline of new products created for the Off Trade channels. They are looking for someone to open new doors with the retailers, the role will progress into a management/leadership role as new business is won. The Role Our client has experienced and identified significant growth opportunities in the off trade, both grocery and specialty channels, and already have proof of concept with a key operator. We now have an exciting opportunity for a National Account Manager with experience of taking new brands to market to join our team and bring these opportunities to fruition. Reporting into the COO this role will sit alongside a dedicated NPD, Sourcing and Delivery Team who will develop and deliver products to meet the needs of new B2B(2C) customers. What we’re looking for •We are looking for a salesperson with a proven track record of being able to generate and deliver new sales revenues within the food and drink sector (ideally within the alcohol and spirits industry). •This role will require engagement with a wide range of retailers, ranging from small independents, right through to blue chip grocery clients. We have a go to market strategy that will engage with a wide range of customers across grocery, specialists and independent retailers. Candidates will therefore require a professional and entrepreneurial minded approach along with a strong commercial acumen and ability to engage at all levels. Responsibilities •Develop an expert understanding of the existing product range; the features, benefits and commercials of each product. •The successful candidate will not only be able to drive direct sales, but will also be able to offer guidance and insight into the future strategy and direction. •Create a material and sustainable pipeline of sales orders from new and existing customers. •Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; cold contacting potential clients, attending trade shows, attending networking and other prospecting events, populating and submitting sales briefs, monitoring and actioning call backs, creating and delivering face to face sales pitches, as well as using PR and sampling to create interest and demand. •NPD - Identify, direct or indirect product gaps within the market, and articulately communicate this need to the NPD Team so that new products can be created to meet an immediate customer need, and / or anticipated future customer need. Requirements • Ideally at least 5 years of proven experience in a B2B sales role in a similar industry (food and drink / alcohol would be ideal) • Experience selling into grocery • Highly numerate individual with exceptional sales and negotiation skills • Used to working on a KPI driven role and business • Experience and comfort negotiating common B2B(2C) terms including but not limited to; retros, BOG’s, CMF’s, paid placements deals, SOR agreements etc etc. • Friendly and affable character - buyer friendly :-) • Tenacious, but innovative, personality • Great presentation skills (internally and to clients).
