Senior Buyer – Packaging | Glasgow | Up to £50,000 + Benefits

Alexander Steele have partnered exclusively with a well-established and growing packaging business based in Glasgow to recruit a Senior Buyer. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the full procurement function and play a key role in driving commercial performance across the business.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing all packaging procurement activities, leading a small buying team, and ensuring stock levels are well controlled to meet operational needs. This is a key leadership role within the business and offers a great platform for further progression.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all procurement activities for packaging products across multiple categories.

Build, maintain, and develop strong relationships with suppliers.

Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to achieve best value.

Manage and develop a small team of Buyers and Procurement Assistants.

Oversee and improve stock intake and inventory control.

Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and pricing activity.

Collaborate closely with operations, finance, and logistics to ensure effective supply chain operations.
What We’re Looking For:

Significant experience in a senior buying or procurement role, ideally within packaging, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.

Proven ability to negotiate and manage contracts effectively.

Experience leading or developing a procurement team.

Excellent supplier relationship and stakeholder management skills.

Strong commercial acumen and analytical mindset.

Comfortable working with procurement and stock systems.
