Alexander Steele has partnered with a leading manufacturing business that has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Controller to oversee all financial operations of the plant, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

Annual salary will be circa £70 000 to £80 000

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Monitor variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, explaining key drivers.
Maintain accurate standard costing systems and ensure proper updates for materials, labour, and overhead.
Analyse cost variances (purchase price, manufacturing efficiency, scrap, yield, etc.) and identify root causes.
Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records.
Maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions, reporting, and inventory management.
Supervise and develop finance staff within the plant.

Candidate Requirements

A degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent professional certification
At least 5 years’ Finance or Accounting experience, ideally with exposure in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in cost accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory control.
Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel/BI tool proficiency (Power BI, Hyperion, etc.).
Cross-functional collaboration experience partnering with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams.
