Job title: Junior Account Manager

Salary: £40,000

Location: Hertfordshire

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (Hybrid) 3 days on site and 2 from home.

Reporting to: Commercial Controller

 

Job Purpose:

· Responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of set retail accounts and the development of profitable, sustainable growth in line with the company strategy.

· Build deep relationships with the customer’s buying team, developing category plans that align with both the customer’s needs and the company's revenue and margin targets.

· Deliver robust sales data and KPI analysis to guide decision-making on promotional/category plans and continuous business improvement initiatives.

· P&L responsibility for assigned accounts, ensuring accurate forecasting and the delivery of budgeted financial targets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Customer Relationship Management:

 

o Build and maintain strong relationships with customer teams, acting as their key contact for inquiries and support.

o Demonstrate empathy, showing care for our customer needs and offering solutions that build trust and loyalty.

 

· Account Management:

o Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of client accounts, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

o Communicate clearly and transparently, managing expectations and addressing issues promptly.

o Collaborate with internal teams, embracing a unified approach to deliver the best outcomes for our customers.

 

· Sales Support & Growth:

o Support the Commercial Controller in identifying opportunities for account growth, using data-driven insights to continuously improve service delivery.

o Help prepare presentations, proposals, and reports to support account growth and development.

o Be bold in offering new ideas and suggestions that align with client goals and market trends.

 

· Market & Product Knowledge:

o Stay informed about our product range, market trends, and emerging opportunities to provide clients with the best advice and service.

o Look beyond the immediate team, partnering with others to solve challenges and enhance service offerings.

 

· Data & Reporting:

o Keep trackers UpToDate on reasons for changes to sales orders, and performance, providing transparency to customers and the internal team.

o Support accurate forecasting and planning, ensuring that we reliably deliver on commitments.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

· 1-2 years of experience in account management, sales, ideally within FMCG.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building long-term relationships.

· Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM systems is advantageous.

· Problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to new challenges and provide solutions quickly.
