In June 2021 Alexander Steele opened it doors to our Manchester office. A big step for such a young business, and during a global pandemic no less.

They do say you can’t run a business without taking risks...

And here we are, almost 9 months later. 2021 was a highly successful year for Alexander Steele, and here are some highlights from our team here in Manchester;

-Opening the doors! We’re very looked after at the Neo building in Manchester city centre.

-Our first hire! Tinashe Muvaki, a native from Zimbabwe with 10 years FMCG recruitment experience in South Africa.

-Our second hire! Sam Gilmour, very much a local with 8 years FMCG account management experience.

-A bigger space required! Moving to a larger office within the Neo building.

-Team outings! The most recent being a visit to the best pizza place in Manchester followed by an unusual but very fun cocktail experience in a prison (search 'Alcotraz Manchester' if you fancy it!)

Thankfully we recruit in highly buoyant sectors. Our desks have been kept incredibly busy all the way through the pandemic. The Food & Drink and Consumer Goods sectors have all shown what they are made of and with impressive resilience, businesses have grown and evolved in ways that add more value, making them more versatile and stronger for the future.

We have followed suit, growing our teams in both our Manchester and Edinburgh. We have a fantastic team of dedicated and professional individuals who provide a great service to some of the biggest names in the industry.

However, like everyone else we have faced some challenges;

-The Manchester weather! Since reloacting to the UK from South Africa, Tinashe has never seen so much rain! (Yet another weekend has passed and I’ve not managed to hit the golf course (I’m a fair weather golfer))

-Covid! As many of our clients supply the hospitality industries, we have seen some instability. Full credit to all in these sectors, we are doing our very best to help anyone who requires our services.

-Finding the right consultants for our team... Ironically recruitment is an issue! Alexander Steele is a hugely appealing prospect for anyone in the industry looking for a new challenge. However, for the time being our third hire eludes us. (Feel free to reach out if you are interested!)

Thankfully there are a great deal more highlights than challenges. I’m very proud of everyone in the team, the two guys here have settled in brilliantly. The support from our Directors has been fantastic. We are busier than ever and we’re all very excited for what 2022 has in store.

And surely the sun will make an appearance at some point soon! (fingers crossed)
