Alexander Steele Recruitment is assisting a food manufacturing business as they look to appoint an Assistant Quality Manager with a background in site QA team management in BRC certified food manufacturing. The role is fulltime, 40 hours per week, 8am – 4:30pm based in Leeds. The salary starts at £30,000 pa increasing to £31,500 pa after 6 months successful achievement of KPI’s. The AQM (systems) position plays a crucial role in the business in managing the technical support function for production and the quality management system documentation launches. It is vital that the candidate is forward thinking, strives for continual improvement and efficiency and has a proven track record managing and developing a technical team. Ideally candidates would be a minimum of level 3 HACCP and food safety trained. Key aspects of this role: •Utilising an experience and knowledge sharing ethos, to develop the sites QA team •Management of the sites internal audit system and NCR program. •Support site audits, presenting all areas of key responsibility •Management of the business allergen validation, and risk assessment •Support the sites HACCP and integrity systems •Line management and development of the site QA supervisor •Maintain the sites traceability and mass balance auditing •Manage key site projects to support continual improvement •Deputise for the AQM (operations) The Person: •Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the food industry in a quality/technical role in a business supplying the UK retailers. •Some experience of managing/supervising and training a team •Previous experience of the BRC standard and HACCP is essential. •Ideally you will have HACCP & Food Safety to level 4 •Formal allergen training •Must have prior experience of allergen risk assessment and validation, internal auditing, pest control and root cause analysis. •Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
