Alexander Steele continue to partner with a global food business that manufacturer and supply a range of products to retailers, food service and B2B across the UK and Ireland. The business is looking to appoint a Shift Manager to their Production facility at their site in Leicestershire.

The role:
Production Operations:
- Lead and monitor daily production activities to ensure output, efficiency, and quality goals are achieved.
- Oversee food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards on shift.
- Ensure all health & safety and fire safety checks are completed.
- Maintain process control and ensure compliance with food safety procedures.
- Ensure all equipment, materials, and areas meet brand standards and customer requirements.
- Follow and enforce site security measures.
Team Management:
- Supervise and support a team of production operatives.
- Ensure all staff (including agency workers) are trained and competent in their roles.
- Manage team performance, including training, coaching, appraisals, and disciplinary processes.
- Plan and approve holidays, monitor attendance, and conduct return-to-work interviews.
- Provide regular shift briefings and communicate key updates to the team.
Communication & Compliance:
- Maintain clear communication with the Production Manager and other departments.
- Record and report all performance metrics, incidents, and non-conformities.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting in line with company and ISO standards.
- Attend required training and maintain all relevant certifications.
- Support continuous improvement and help identify ways to reduce waste and downtime.
Cover & Additional Duties:
- Provide cover for the Production Manager when required
- Take responsibility for site operations and security in the manager’s absence.
- Complete any other tasks as directed by senior management.
Candidate requirements:
- Min 3 years experience in a management or supervisory role within a food environment
- Understanding of working in a BRC accredited environment
- HACCP and Food Safety certifications
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and organise work efficiently, operate effectively under pressure, and take a proactive approach
