Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Our client is a major producer within their specialist field and supply to a diverse and widespread customer base. They are currently looking for a talented engineer to join their team. This key position within the business will be required to carry out all field or workshop activities related to electrical maintenance, with the best levels of safety, efficiency and effectiveness, abiding by all the procedures and standards set by the Electrical Department. Job Requirements (Principal Responsibilities) Ensure good working conditions and safety standards are maintained. Ensuring the permit to work system and any other safety system are strictly adhered to. Assess risks, carryout Risk Analysis and plan corrective actions as and when required. Take responsibility for self and coworkers to strictly adhere to the policies, procedures and instructions set for the organization. If authorized carry out plant isolations and permitting as per procedures. Responsible for ensuring good housekeeping and ensuring that on completion of work the work area is returned in a high standard of cleanliness and all safety protection has been inspected and returned to the required standard. Undertake all training required to fulfill required duties and improve skill sets. Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and allied electrical devices that may arise during the day or shift. Prepare incident report for any electrical stoppage. Perform maintenance work on motor, switchgear, transformer, breaker, switches to ensure reliability of electrical equipment. Conduct periodic inspection on running electrical equipment and measure the data needed to determine any abnormalities on equipment. Perform calibrations, repair, servicing or replacement of electrical components. Perform checking of LUX and replacement of defective lighting. Participate in Route Cause Analysis of plant failure or issues. Prepare Work Request using the Maintenance Package Software. Update the history file of equipment after any accomplished job. Coordinate with other departments to facilitate repair and inspection work. Ensure departmental handover process is followed and ensuring hand over is received and given to shift peer. Carryout appraisals of staff and agree continuous development programs. Take the necessary action on any breaches in line with HR policies including carrying out investigations into employee related matters e.g. disciplinary hearings, performance management discussions, capability hearings and grievance hearings. Perform other related job from time to time if assigned to do so. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours) Knowledge continuous process plant machinery. 3 years minimum. Thorough knowledge of general electrical maintenance activities including, HV LV, Motors control circuits automation instrumentation etc. Knowledge of basic safety requirements and safety procedures. Knowledge and experience of maintenance methods, tools and systems. Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to read and understand all electrical and process control drawings. A willingness to embrace change in our drive for continued improvement. Education/Experience HND or equivalent Electrical Regulation 17th Edition Time-served Electrical Technician or equivalent
