Alexander Steele are working with a leading food manufacturer in Hertfordshire to appoint an Factory Technical Manager. This is a key, site-based leadership role with full responsibility for driving quality standards, compliance, and continuous improvement across a fast-paced food manufacturing operation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Management of the site QMA, ensuring it remains compliant with customer, legal, and industry requirements
  • Plan, manage, and host internal and external audits, ensuring actions are completed effectively and on time
  • Maintain robust standards in line with GMP, BRC, and relevant food safety frameworks
  • Work cross functionally across the site to embed quality and food safety principles throughout manufacturing activities
  • Manage customer complaint investigations, delivering thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure technical records, procedures, and performance data are accurate, current, and effectively used
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, food safety, and compliance culture across the site

 

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Quality or Technical Management position within a food manufacturing environment
  • A Food Science degree or equivalent qualification is highly desirable
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 certification (or higher)
  • Strong, hands on knowledge of BRC standards with proven experience working to UK retailer requirements
  • Confident in applying technical standards in a fast-paced, site-based manufacturing setting
