Food Technologist

Alexander Steele are delighted to continue to work in partnership with an award winning foods business. They supply high quality products into the retail, food service and B2B Manufacturing channels. Due to growth the business is looking for a talented Food Technologist to join their team. On offer: •A salary of £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience •Hybrid working Monday to Friday (2 days from home WFH) •Company pension •25 days holiday plus bank holidays •Private Healthcare The role: As the Food Technologist, your primary responsibility will be to provide support to the technical function. The role will involve efficiently handling customer enquiries and complaints while collaborating with stakeholders across the business to ensure the company's objectives are achieved in an efficient and effective manner. Key Responsibilities: •Development of the quality attribute documentation for product launches. •Accurate completion of specifications (Customer and new products) •Help provide technical support to relevant technical categories, input on products, to inform Sales, procurement and external customers. •Ensure that all customer complaints and enquiries are dealt with efficiently and effectively •Ensure that all internal databases updated accurately and maintained. •Support technical category teams by providing product and supplier specific information to customers. •Communicate relevant customer / retailer COP internally to the technical category team. •Help with product QC assessment for our core customers when needed. •Support with supplier gap analysis visits when requested. •Where appropriate, attend supplier and first production visits for our new and existing suppliers. The candidate: •Hold a degree in Food Technology/ Science or recognised food safety qualifications. •Experience working in the food manufacturing - Minimum of 2 years. •Good working knowledge of Food Safety Systems is desirable. •Knowledge of the UK food industry and legislation is essential. •Has HACCP knowledge and other appropriate professional qualifications. •Be able to multi-task and work well under pressure against tight deadlines. •Be analytical, interpersonal and the ability to be able to influence others at all levels effectively. •Numerate, literate with intermediate IT Skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
