Junior Account Manager Alexander Steele are working in partnership with a successful FMCG business. They supply the major retailers with high quality products. The business is going from strength to strength and they are looking to add a talented Junior Account Manager to their Commercial team. The Role: The Junior Account Manager is there to commercially manage the development of the business to achieve their category objectives in terms of volume, price and mix, whilst adopting an end to end profitability mentality as well as being able to processing daily orders and assisting with the daily account management. Key Responsibilities: • Support the development of a mutually beneficial customer’s strategy, category plans and business process. • Assist account manager in preparing an annual account plan for the customer and gain outline agreement of the key objectives with the customer. • Assist account manager to proactively manage the relationship between buying, marketing, merchandising, product development and supply chain network interfaces with the customer. • Prepare product development briefs and manage new product and range changes, which meet the marketing and financial requirements of both the customer and the business. • Gain understanding of competitor activity within the customer portfolio advising both the business and the customer. • Assist account manager to regularly review sales forecasts by line and make timely amendments to maintain service levels and achieve KPIs. • Agree a rolling activity plan (including promotional) and update it by mutual agreement with the customer. • Negotiate specification, price, distribution and volume parameters to achieve plan/budget/forecast which is regularly updated against the latest sales plan based on budget margins. • Communicate the outcome of customer meetings, conferences and briefings to the relevant customer focus team including technical, procurement and operations. • Assist account manager to achieve customer business as a portfolio by influencing ranging, sales mix, product introductions and promotional activity and maintaining an agreed costed margin. • Review promotional activity including peaks and recommend future trading strategies. • Manage specific projects including new business opportunities agreed with the Account Manager. • Initiate product specification changes to reduce cost or improve efficiency and recommend value chain improvements. • Maintain the optimum level of SKU’s in line with targets for the account. • Provide out of hours support and weekend working to support the account – on a rota basis • Preparation of data and info for commercial and supplier reviews. • Assist account executive to communicate and processing of daily orders. • Liaise with accounts and production to resolve any order related queries. • Assist customer commercial team with new line set up both internally and externally. • Complete weekly bulletins and cost confirmations. • Assist account executive to build and check all line structures on IFS. • Assist and support the business in any area during peaks. • Ensure all sample demands are met on a daily basis. • Assist account executive with data input and administration of IFS systems relating to finished product structures. • Customer contact to Buyer level, and control of Customer supply chain Support Account Manager in the following on an adhoc basis: • Support the development of a mutually beneficial customer’s strategy, category plans and business process. • Preparing an annual account plan for the customer and gain outline agreement of the key objectives with the customer. • Proactively manage the relationship between buying, marketing, merchandising, product development and supply chain network interfaces with the customer. Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications • Experience within commercial, marketing and/or supply chain ideally with fast moving, short shelf life products • For specific roles plant knowledge is required • Determined & enthusiastic with good influencing and organisational skills. • Ability to build relationship with external and internal customers. • IT ability at intermediate/advanced level in Excel, PowerPoint and Word. • Fresh thinker. • Team/customer focussed. • Good communicator at multiple levels.
