Mechanical Fitter - Nightshift

Alexander Steele is working with one of Scotland’s well established material processing plants, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to their team in East Lothian for a site role. You must be a time-served with experience working with plant machinery in a heavy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of maintenance for the site, including equipment. This is a 'hands on' maintenance position that works closely with production to achieve production and quality to ensure continuity of the process. Desired equipment and machinery experience would include multiple saws, motors, chains, rollers, conveyors, gearboxes, sprockets & bearings. Daily Duties • To maintain all plant, equipment & buildings - planned and reactive maintenance to HSQE standards. • Ensure that machinery is ready for use at start up and providing support when needed. • Ensure that all maintenance, repairs, improvements, and developments are undertaken safely, efficiently, effectively and at minimum cost. • To manage contractors for project, servicing, or specialist maintenance work as necessary to ensure compliance with legislation. • To ensure that maintenance records and relevant documentation are kept up to date. • Responsible for assisting the management in achieving the company’s environmental, safety and quality objectives and targets. Requirements: • Recognised Apprenticeship, Mechanical Fitter and/or Mechanical qualifications • Experience of heavy plant machinery – multiple saws, motors, chains, rollers, conveyors, gearboxes, sprockets & bearings. • Implementation of new processes and developments. • IT literate – comfortable using business software and systems. • Good time management skills. • Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues.
