Alexander Steele is partnering with a leading Food Manufacturing business based in Kent who are looking for an experienced Operations Manager. The role involves managing daily operations, leading teams, optimising processes, and ensuring high standards of product quality, safety, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organisational, and analytical skills, with experience in driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production & Process Management: Plan and run day-to-day operations to meet customer expectations. Optimise production capacity, throughput, and efficiency while controlling costs. Ensure product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Warehouse & Logistics: Oversee inventory levels, storage, and dispatch of goods. Coordinate with suppliers and transport partners to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop operational teams. Manage schedules, performance, and workforce allocation to meet production demands.
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Management: Implement lean principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and optimise workflows. Monitor KPIs, costs, and productivity to drive operational excellence.
  • Health & Safety: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all regulations. Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and training.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal departments (Quality, Sales, Logistics, Technical) and external partners to ensure smooth operations and drive improvement.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education & Experience: 10+ years in operational and people management within FMCG. Experience in food safety, quality control, and cold chain logistics is desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong communicator, hands-on problem solver, analytical, customer-focused, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Leadership Attributes: Strategic thinker, results-driven, collaborative, able to develop talent, and confident handling challenges under pressure.
