Packaging Technologist (Innovation & Compliance)

We are working with a leading international Food company who are looking for a Packaging Technologist to join their team and work closely with the packaging project team, the SAP users and the packaging contacts at our retail customers to ensure that all product packaging is safe, legal, decent honest and truthful and meets agreed quality criteria within the technical specification. The salary for this role is £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience. Working hours are Monday to Friday at their site in Sproughton. As Packaging Technologist your responsibilities will include accurately maintaining the company’s master data for all packaging, project management, reporting on packaging waste information, identifying and actioning opportunities to reduce and remove excess packaging or increase efficiency to support cost reduction. Keeping the business and supplying sites updated on packaging specific policies including any changes to legislation. You will be liaising with our stakeholders which include our customers, suppliers, artwork houses and printers so being able to communicate effectively and confident at building successful relationships is key. Your performance will be measured on the following: •Management of projects to agreed timeliness. •Achieving stakeholder buy-in to packaging projects both internally and externally. •Delivery cost reductions through packaging reduction. •Accuracy and maintenance of the packaging master data systems. The Candidate essentials: • GCSE Maths & English grade C or above. • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel. • The ability to self manage and work well within a team. • Working for a food business in a packaging related role. • Strong project management skills, good at researching and accurately be able to record data on electronic filling • Have a strong telephone manner, excellent organisational skills and be analytical and good at solving problems. • Be able to work well under pressure and be able to use own initiative. Desirable: • Have an understanding and knowledge of current packaging legislation and upcoming changes. • Have worked to retailer specific packaging requirements.
