Our client, a major supplier of ambient staple ingredients to the UK food industry, including several market leading brands, is looking for a Quality Supervisor to join their site in Essex. This is a 9 month contract to cover Maternity leave. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the role is intended to provide support for the Quality Manager in the following areas: Maintain and manage the Technical function on the shifts Ensuring proper operation of the Manufacturing Facility in Essex from a Technical perspective. Including GMP auditing, finished product assessment against specifications. Documentation verification and control. Ensuring facility compliance with the policies and procedures detailed in the site QMS Supporting QA’s MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Leading QA’s with tasks/supervising/supporting •Management of Technical Procedures and Records - Production documentation verification checks •GMP and H&H audits •Daily Equipment and Procedural Checks •Hygiene/Allergen swab testing after cleaning down and record keeping •Monitoring ICE system, printing existing and creating new labels •Uploading/Creating programmes for the lines •Glass and Hard Plastic audits •Completion of QAS •Manage sample collection and despatch for scheduled testing at designated laboratories – product and water sampling •Oversee the Positive Release system to ensure all products despatched from the facility are within customer specification •Maintain Hygiene and Allergen verification and validation regime and associated record keeping •Raise Corrective Action Requests •Raise NCR against packaging suppliers •Conduct customer and supplier relationships in a professional and courteous manner •Collect traceability documents •Consumable ordering/monitoring stock level of Allergen swabs & ATP swabs. •Monitoring and ordering if necessary, cleaning equipment •Pheromone Pads checks •Fridge temperature checks •Chemical solution checks •Water temperature checks •Other business needs CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS •Food manufacturing experience (preferred in QC/QA supervisor role) •Good attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively •Computer literate •Food safety level 3/other food safety and hygiene qualifications OTHER The successful candidate could be expected to deputise for the Quality Manager in a number of situations, including inspections by customers or regulatory bodies, and will normally play a key role in preparing for such inspections. The applicant should be prepared to undertake such extra tasks as reasonably requested by either the Quality Manager or the Technical Director.
