We are delighted to continue working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading food manufacturers and due to growth, they have asked us to assist them in finding an R&D Pilot Plant Technician to join their state of the art R&D function at their site in Bedfordshire. On offer: • A salary of £22,000 to £26,000 depending on experience • Working Monday to Friday days • Enhanced pension • 32 days holidays • Excellent career development opportunities The role: Reporting to the R&D Manager the R&D Pilot Plant Technician is responsible for assisting with NPD work in the R&D pilot plant, sample prep lab and development kitchens. You will carry out internal tests and adopt excellent H&S and hygiene practices. Working collaboratively with Technologists and other technicians you will ensure accuracy on allocated tasks. Tasks include; • Support the NPD teams with the development of good quality products to meet customers briefs • Using the correct equipment in the pilot plants and development kitchens to make up and trial finished products and samples. • Ensure all documentation is up to date and correct • Carry out cleaning and sanitation of pilot plant and development kitchens • Maintain high standards for food hygiene and food and equipment storage in the R&D function • Ordering of materials including ingredients for replenishment and development tests • Cooking products for tastings and presentations for internal and external stakeholders • Support the NPD team with the creation and development of products to meet customer briefs • Build and maintain good working relationships across the NPD function, the wider business and external stakeholders The candidate: • A food related degree or at least 1 years experience working in a similar role • A passion for NPD / culinary development • Must have the ability to work in a pilot plant & development kitchen with a range of foods and ingredients • Pallet truck (PPT, Scissors, LLOP) experience • Be a confident communicator at all levels • Pro-active and motivated individual • A current, valid UK driving licence Please apply with an up to date CV For more information please contact Tracey on 0131 370 9191 / 07837566646 or email tracey.fleming@alexandersteele.com
