Raw Materials Manager

We are working with a client who have been in the industry for well over a century and they are looking for a Raw Materials Manager to join their team at their site in Somerset. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Raw Materials Manager must have a sound Technical background, ideally in raw material management and the material approval process. They must also be able to manage tasks using a lateral, methodical approach with proven technical experience. They will be working directly with customers, auditors and suppliers. The working hours for this role are 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work from home 2 to 3 days per week depending on customer demand and business needs. The role requires you to have management and ownership of: • Approval of new suppliers of raw materials & packaging prior to use on site • Approval of all raw materials Ingredients & Packaging prior to use on site. • Annual Supplier performance review • Up to date raw material documentation • C of A review & acceptance • Packaging Trials & factory suitability approval • To Complete Horizon Scanning and any follow up actions as a results of the review. • M&S Integrity Risk assessment • Maintenance of Artwork version reference samples • Supporting Customer, Regulatory & 3rd Party audits on site • Satisfactory completion of Customer audit non-conformances in relation to Raw Materials Key responsibilities: • Supporting Customer audits on site – factory tours, traceability exercises and documentation review • Technical responsibility for all raw materials delivered to site • Managing all raw material and supplier approval documentation, ensuring it is held on file & up to date • Reviewing supplier BRC status or Self-Audit questionnaire to determine approval of new supplier to site • To determine Raw Material risk rating and implementation of any key controls required • Maintaining M&S Food Integrity risk assessment • Assessment & approval of Printed Packaging deliveries • Managing & coordinating Packaging trials through the factory, where necessary • To complete annual supplier performance review & take necessary action regarding poor performance. • To investigate and raise raw material and packaging complaints and issues with suppliers • Trending of supplier complaints to identify ongoing/ repeat issues • Occasional auditing of key raw material suppliers • Providing required data for Horizon scanning as required or following up any issues/risks highlighted • Conducting Site Internal Audits as required, taking appropriate action where non-conformances are identified • Attendance to NPD meetings The Candidate: •Be self motivated with the ability to work on your own and as part of a team •Good communication skills •Logical and methodical •Be able to organise, prioritise and manage time effectively •Have a can do positive attitude •Be proactive when it comes to resolving factory issues •Strong awareness of retailer COPs and BRC V8 •Have strong computer skills - working with Word, Excel & powerpoint The salary for the role is £31,500 plus a range of benefits including 33 days holiday, long service payments, life insurance and more!
