💻 Hybrid working
I'm looking for an experienced Senior Food Technologist to join a growing technical team in a leading UK food business, based in London. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally, owning technical projects from concept to launch, and building strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
The role
You’ll be a key technical partner for the business, supporting the Technical Manager and working closely with procurement, sales, supply chain and operations.
Your focus will be on:
- Act as a key technical contact for customers, suppliers and internal teams, providing accurate product and process information.
- Lead the technical delivery of new products and projects, including factory trials, first production and launches.
- Manage and develop the supplier base through visits, assessments, audits, risk reviews and follow-up actions.
- Own and maintain customer and internal product specifications, ensuring they meet legal, safety and customer requirements.
- Monitor and communicate customer and retailer standards, ensuring suppliers comply with all technical expectations and legislation.
- Investigate product and supplier issues, driving root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Keep clear, organised technical documentation and reports, contributing to team KPIs and wider technical initiatives.
Candidate requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience in a technical/quality/NPD role within the food industry
- Strong understanding of UK food legislation, food safety systems and retailer/brand standards.
- Confident managing multiple technical projects, with excellent organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and credible communicator, able to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced food technologist who wants real influence across the supply chain. You’ll work with a broad mix of products, suppliers and major customers, taking ownership of high-profile projects from concept to launch, and acting as a key technical voice in the business. It’s a chance to sharpen both your technical and commercial skills in a fast-moving environment, with visibility, responsibility and genuine scope to shape how things are done.
