Alexander Steele have partnered with a leading hospitality group in Scotland to recruit a passionate and experienced Sous Chef for a renowned fine dining restaurant in the heart of St Andrews.

The restaurant offers an elevated dining experience with an impressive wine list, a unique bar selection, and an upbeat yet refined atmosphere.

About the Role:

As Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary standards and evolving the menu to reflect the seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing the entire kitchen operation

  • Lead services, ensuring smooth and efficient execution

  • Drive consistently high standards in food preparation and presentation

  • Train and support junior team members

  • Oversee daily stock control and ordering

  • Identify and source high-quality, local ingredients

  • Contribute to the design and innovation of new dishes

  • Support all aspects of kitchen management including GP%, health and safety, and hygiene compliance

About You:

  • Previous experience in a Sous Chef or Senior CDP role within a fine dining or high-end restaurant

  • Strong understanding of seasonal produce and modern cooking techniques

  • Creative, driven, and passionate about delivering a top-tier dining experience

  • Confident in leading a team and running busy services

  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations and stock management
