Alexander Steele is looking to recruit a Specifications Technologist to join a Food Manufacturing business based in West Yorkshire. You will join the Technical Compliance team, reporting into the Senior Specifications Technologist. You will validate raw material data received from suppliers to enable retailer specifications to be produced in a timely manner and to deadline. You will work as part of the specifications team ensuring the Company’s specification systems are continually updated and maintained to meet the requirements of both the British Retail Consortium certification and our customers. Key responsibilities: •Raw material approval – Approving raw materials to European, Australian, Canadian and USA requirements as appropriate. •Raw material risk assessment – grading raw material risk to defined criteria (allergen / micro / GM / PAH’s / Free From / Vegan / Acrylamide / Mycotoxins / Heavy Metals) •Supplier approval and risk assessment – Approving suppliers based on GFSI benchmarked certification, business SAQ and approval criteria •Managing raw material data to support the retailers and industry alert programs •To complete finished product specifications for retailer and branded products, ensuring accurate information is provided for consumers •To conduct reviews of artwork to ensure accuracy of legal labelling information •To update the company’s specifications database •To keep updated with current and forthcoming legislation to ensure that the company’s products conform to relevant legal requirements •To work with the company’s internal recipe management systems and customer web based systems Person Specification: •Computer literate is essential (word / excel / office 365 ) Microsoft teams experience preferred •Fully trained and experience in either RM or FG specs preferred •Raw material safety approval and risk assessment experience preferred •Retailer portal experience preferred •Legal labelling training preferred •Export legislative requirements preferred (USA / Canada / EU / ANZ) •Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines •Flexibility to work at home or at site (typically 50/50) •Maths literacy essential •Very good attention to detail essential •Team player approach essential On Offer •Salary £25,000 •Monday – Friday •40 Hour working week •Flexible working •33 days holiday •Pension If you are interested in hearing more about it this position, please apply with your most recent CV to Iain Shanley for more information about the role.
