Here at Alexander Steele is working exclusively with a leading global food manufacturer that supplies a wide range of luxury products to UK retailers and food service. They have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Compliance Manager to join them at their site in Bedfordshire
This is a key role within the technical function, responsible for ensuring full compliance with food safety, quality, legal, customer and third-party standards. Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining certification, driving continuous improvement and supporting operational excellence across multiple manufacturing sites.

Key Accountabilities
- Take responsibility for managing and developing the site compliance team, providing leadership, coaching and ongoing support to ensure high performance and capability growth
- Coordinate customer, certification and third-party audits, ensuring the sites are fully prepared, audit ready at all times, and that any findings are addressed promptly and effectively
- Monitor technical performance through KPI tracking, data analysis and trend evaluation, using insights to identify risks and implement improvement actions
- Manage systems relating to non-conformances, incidents and product withdrawals/recalls, ensuring thorough investigation, root cause identification and preventative measures are implemented
- Ensure robust food safety and risk management programmes are in place and effective, including HACCP, VACCP and TACCP, to protect product integrity and consumer safety
- Maintain and enhance the site’s quality and food safety systems, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, customer standards and internal policies
- Oversee supplier approval and verification processes, ensuring all suppliers meet required food safety, quality and compliance standards
- Deliver guidance, training and ongoing support to site teams to promote understanding and adherence to food safety, quality and compliance expectations
- Manage and review lab and product testing programmes, including microbiological, allergen, nutritional and environmental analysis, ensuring results are reviewed and acted upon appropriately
- Work collaboratively with customers and internal stakeholders to support site approvals, maintain certifications and drive a culture of continuous technical improvement
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in Food Science (or related discipline) and Advanced HACCP qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical or quality role within food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of BRC Standards, Quality Management Systems and audit compliance
- Experience supporting or leading customer, certification and third-party audits
- Excellent organisational, communication and influencing skills
- Strong analytical ability with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
