Alexander Steele Recruitment has partnered with a leading food manufacturing group supplying a wide range of delicious products to retailers and foodservice outlets across the UK. We are supporting them in appointing a Technical Manager at their site in South Wales.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager who’s ready to step up into a more senior role.

The role:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain technical and quality strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and manage the technical function, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
  • Oversee product quality assurance and control processes to guarantee consistent product standards.
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, including customer and third-party inspections.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for key customers and stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for product quality or safety issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including production, NPD, hygiene, and supply chain—to support new product development and process improvements.
  • Ensure effective documentation and control of technical specifications, procedures, and quality records.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Lead training and development initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and compliance across the site.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices to advise the business accordingly.
  • Support the company’s health and safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
Candidate 
  • Degree in Food Science or equivalent experience
  • Level 3 Food Safety & Level 3 HACCP certifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey clear strategies to stakeholders at all levels
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Computer literate, with strong skills in Excel and spreadsheets
  • Energetic, optimistic, and proactive mindset
