What made you change your career path to recruitment?
I’ve previously worked within the FMCG industry, initially from an ingredients perspective and then packaging, primarily as an account manager. Whilst applying for new roles earlier this year, I became quite frustrated with the overall recruitment process (I was having a lot of my time wasted, I found roles which on paper sounded a lot different than in person and generally trying to find exactly what I was looking for was difficult when not being given the right advice from recruiters I was speaking to.) At this point I began looking into recruitment as a role for myself with the idea that I could do a much better job whilst leveraging my existing industry expertise! I feel that there a lot of similarities in recruitment to my previous roles but rather than selling a product, I’m selling a company or a person!
To me, working at Alexander Steele means… having the opportunity to work alongside industry experts as part of a collaborative team who genuinely want to make a difference to a client’s business or a candidate’s future. To me, working at Alexander Steele means having a passion for making a difference and being in the best position to do so.
At the weekend, I like to…Hike! I spend a lot of my spare time walking in the countryside either with friends / family or with my pet Dog, Nyx! I’m a big Manchester United fan so I always need to be available to keep up with the football too!
The song to get me motivated for the day is… “Wonderful life" by Black, for me it’s a very happy and positive song that just lifts my mood instantly. Great 80’s hit!
