Chemical Engineer

Alexander Steele has partnered with a ground-breaking business that is producing a range of environmentally sustainable products. They work with some leading global FMCG businesses and have an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Engineer to support the Head of Engineering in Cambridgeshire. You will join a small, science-led, innovative team with a high-level of autonomy, creativity, and independence. Assisting in translating chemical lab scale proof of principle to small scale lab process. The Role • Leading technical work on process design biodegradable products. • Develop and optimise processes to small pilot scale • Manage pilot plant trials and support design of process for production of commercial samples • Developing/establishing in-process controls/analytical tools to ensure product quality • Maintenance of Lab and Pilot Plant related equipment • Liaise with customer R&D and production teams • Opportunity to build a team of Lab Technicians/ Research Assistants as the company grows The Candidate: • MSc/MEng/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science • Experience on microencapsulation, emulsions and/or microfluidics • Experience of polymeric systems • Sustainability experience would be beneficial - basic understanding of sustainable bio-based materials and sustainable process development • Must be creative, detail-oriented and must be able to multi-task • Fits the right culture of a small, science-led innovative team with autonomy and creativity, On Offer: • £40k-£50k salary (depending on experience) • Share options in a fast-growing business • Comnpany Penison This is your opportunity to join an innovative and disruptive business that is spearheading the development of a wide range of new and environmentally sustainable materials for everyday use.
