Customer Account Manager - Retailers

Up to £40,000 - £43,000 depending on experience

On site role in Preston

Monday to Friday / 7.30am - 3.30pm

A successful fresh produce business supplying high-quality salads and vegetables to major UK retailers, food service providers, and international markets.

 

The Role

We are seeking a Customer Account Manager to grow and maintain strong relationships with our customers while ensuring they receive high-quality products and services. This role will involve working alongside procurement, NPD, technical and production teams in house.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of assigned customer accounts and serve as the primary point of contact.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships, ensuring timely delivery of products and services.
  • Generate sales opportunities, including upselling and cross-selling, and identify growth opportunities with existing clients.
  • Forecast and track client account metrics to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and the sales team to ensure consistent service and pursue new client opportunities.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, and supplier relations, including contract negotiations.
  • Support new product development (NPD), promotions, merchandising, and packaging initiatives.
  • Conduct category reviews with customers, analysing market, consumer, and food trends.
  • Prepare budgets, cost analyses, reports, and undertake ad-hoc tasks; ability to travel UK and internationally as required.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role with a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to set and manage expectations.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and a collaborative team player.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with enthusiasm for driving change.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain trust with colleagues at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and capable of producing reports in Excel.
  • Fluent in English and willing to develop skills and enhance individual knowledge.
