Technical Assistant

Here at Alexander Steele we are working with a leading UK based food manufacturing business who are seen as innovators in their field and a trusted name in the snack industry. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this business as Technical Assistant and you will play a key role in the smooth running of the Technical Department. You will support teams across the business to ensure all that the products developed and manufactured meet with all safe, legal and fit the customer requirements. Key responsibilities: • Create, maintain and update finish product specifications. • Review raw material specifications. • Communicate with customers including responding to technical enquiries, complete documentation including supplier questionnaires, risk assessments, supply chain maps and certificate of analysis. • Communicate with suppliers to ensure all information is gained for both internal and customer documentation. • Maintain the supplier database. • Ensure packaging information is correct and legal. • Complete and maintain product Quality Attribute sheets, SOPs, Maintain settings recipes and other documentation require to ensure products are manufactured following agreed specifications. • Undertake all QA Technologist duties in their absence - Goods intake quality checks, laboratory sample administration and factory checks. • Carry out internal audits. • Responsible to Technical KPI reports. • General technical administrative support • Contribute to CI by putting forward ideas that might improve quality, efficiency and profitability of the business. • Maintain food safety and Health & Safety standards. The candidate: • A minimum of 2 years workings in a food manufacturing environment within an office based Technical role. • Food Safety and HACCP qualifications. • Competent using Microsoft 0ffice applications. • Resilience and a can do attitude. • Great time management skills. • Excellent communication skills – dealing with customers and team members. This is a Monday to Friday role so no weekend work required and the salary is between £25,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.
