Alexander Steele continues to partner with a leading multi-site food manufacturer that is going through continuous growth. As a result, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Manager to join their state of the art facilities in Bedfordshire.

The role:
As Technical Manager, you will lead and strengthen the business's technical compliance, food safety, and quality assurance functions across its food manufacturing sites. This is a key leadership position, responsible for embedding a proactive food safety culture and ensuring rigorous compliance with all relevant standards. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, oversee risk management related to food safety, and ensure that all products meet the highest standards of legality, safety, and quality for our customers.
In this role, you will take ownership of technical strategy and execution across multiple sites. You will lead site audits, maintain third-party and customer accreditations, and ensure the business is always audit-ready. You will manage food safety risks, drive corrective actions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to embed a strong quality culture. Additionally, you’ll oversee the performance and development of technical teams, support business process compliance, and maintain up-to-date technical documentation. Your leadership will be vital in aligning our operations with evolving customer and regulatory expectations while promoting innovation and continuous improvement at every level.
Candidate requirements:
  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Team management experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety, HACCP, and UK and EU food legislations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach.
  • Strong understanding of food safety management and QMS.
