Job Title: Day Shift Operator (RO Plant & Weighbridge)
Location: Inverness-shire

Summary of the Role
This is a varied and hands-on position supporting the daily operations of two critical functions on site: the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant and the Weighbridge. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of both areas, maintaining process control, hygiene, safety standards, and accurate documentation to support overall site efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
RO Plant Operator Duties
-
Operate the Reverse Osmosis facility, monitoring plant performance and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Perform daily checks on plant equipment, including process readings and system inspections.
-
Collect, analyse, and interpret effluent and treated water samples.
-
Maintain instrumentation through regular cleaning and calibration.
-
Assist with plant maintenance activities such as equipment servicing, lubrication, and component replacements.
-
Carry out both automated and manual cleaning of plant equipment (e.g., strainers, flush points).
-
Supervise chemical deliveries, sludge tank loading, and changeovers as required.
-
Maintain cleanliness inside and around the RO plant and associated tanks.
-
Manage waste arrangements, including ordering skips and liaising with site teams on requirements.

Liaise with engineering teams to report operational issues and support planned maintenance.

Maintain accurate operational logs, analysis records, maintenance notes, and safety checklists.
-
Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations and procedures.
Weighbridge Operator Duties
-
Operate the site weighbridge system for both barley intake and malt dispatch.
-
Ensure calibration and accuracy of the weighbridge equipment.
-
Complete dispatch analysis, issue sales tickets, and generate Certificates of Analysis.
-
Maintain accurate weighbridge records in line with FEMAS and AUKM standards.
-
Record data in AX system and manage ticketing for all deliveries and intakes.
-
Sample and analyse barley lorry deliveries throughout the year, especially during harvest.
-
Handle sample preparation for dispatch to the central lab (barley and malt).
-
Generate required Customs and Excise documentation for export shipments.
-
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and internal standards.
Person Specification
Essential:
-
Literate and numerate, with the ability to follow standard operating procedures
-
Physically fit and capable of manual handling and confined space work
-
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping
-
Confident working independently and managing multiple responsibilities
-
Basic computer skills and familiarity with data entry systems
-
Full UK driving licence
-
Willingness to work flexible hours and provide sickness/holiday cover
Desirable:

Previous experience working in a process, wastewater, or weighbridge environment

Forklift truck licence

FiM & GMC qualifications
-
Familiarity with AX or similar ERP systems
Working Pattern
-
Three-week rotating pattern:
-
2 weeks of 12-hour shifts (8am – 8pm)
-
1 week of standard days (8am – 4:30pm)

Approx. 6 weeks of night shifts during harvest period
