Shift Process Operator – Leading Drinks Manufacturer
📍 Inverness-shire
🕒 Full-Time | Rotating Shifts | Permanent

Alexander Steele is delighted to be partnering with a leading drinks manufacturer to recruit for a Shift Process Operator at their site in Inverness-shire. This is a key role responsible for the production of high-quality malt and the efficient running of three plant areas, as well as the wastewater treatment facility.

The successful candidate will follow established plant procedures and schedules, ensuring hygiene, safety, and process accuracy across the site. The role also involves barley drying during the harvest period, lone working on night shifts, and adherence to site safety and quality policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor malting processes, including steeping, germination, kilning, and barley drying

  • Transfer grain between vessels, bins, and storage as required

  • Intake and dress barley to required storage areas

  • Dress and transfer malt to appropriate bins

  • Operate wastewater treatment facility and monitor performance

  • Run pelleter equipment when required

  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness across Plants 1, 2, and 3

  • Complete all process charts and records in line with quality standards

  • Report operational issues to engineering and site management

  • Identify and communicate any production anomalies or hazards

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, company safety policies, and the zero drugs and alcohol policy

  • Wear all required PPE and participate in mandatory training

  • Lone working required during night shifts


Person Specification

Essential:

  • Awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) practices

  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards

  • Able to work on own initiative and meet high work accuracy

  • Positive attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-motivated, reliable, and flexible

  • Team-oriented approach

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Fundamentals in Malting

  • Forklift truck licence

  • Experience using PLC systems or grain transfer equipment

  • Previous experience in a production environment
