A food manufacturing business in the Glasgow area has a need for a Night Shift Mechanical Fitter. The Role In this role you will assume the responsibility as a mechanical fitter providing full support to the hygiene and engineering departments under the leadership of the Engineering Team Leaders and Engineering Management. On Offer: •£33,930 •Overtime paid at x 1.5 •Monday – Friday •10pm – 7am Key Duties/Responsibilities Be responsible for the removal of machinery components such as guarding and covers as required by hygiene and/or engineering. Ensure that all remedial work/re-fitting is to a high standard and any engineering electrical required follow up work is reported to Engineering Team Leaders and/or Engineering Management. Inspect and check all parts whilst covers are removed and report any damage or failed parts (bearings corroded/seized, guides worn/damaged, any damage to machinery, etc). Once hygiene has completed the required cleaning, replace guards and components ensuring all required lubrication is completed, and all components are accounted for. Ensure that all equipment change parts are accounted for and stowed in their locations. Have full responsibility for all components while working with on or usage until job completion. Assist with the removal of belts and components to allow hygiene to complete tasks. Responsibility for ensuring current practices meet Health and Safety and Food Safety standards, and company policies and practices, where possible exceeding requirement Carrying out all duties as required to fulfil the functions of the job. Complete ad hoc duties as requested by your line manager, manager or company director, as and when required. Desirable Experience A basic knowledge of mechanical engineering covering greasing and basic maintenance including the ability to spot faults and or damage to machinery. Experience of working in a fast-moving FMCG industry. Knowledge and experience of the maintenance of modern processing plant machinery would be advantageous but training will be given. Previous experience of food processing equipment is desirable but not essential.
